Terry Thorne is a K&R agent. Kidnapping and Ransom. He gets to fly in helicopters and tote around cool weapons. His job enables him to save other people's families at the risk of separating his own. He has a son, Henry. But Terry has left that life, and is now at Crowe's Point. Terry is the brains of the outfit. He has smarts, but he often lets love (or at least the thought of it) get in the way of what he knows is best. His commanding attitude sometimes gives the appearance of being bossy and controlling, but he is kind and open to other's opinions.

It's hard to believe that 2009 is gone already! It seems like just a few months ago I was sitting down getting ready to watch Dick Clark's New Year's Eve program! (I think I'll pass this year) We're going to have to start writing 2010. Have to get schedules ready. Think about everything we have to do! But a better thought...what will Russell be doing? :D Hopefully making more fantastic movies!

This year was kinda bad, but maybe next year will be better! So take the rest of the year off, spend time with the things you care about. See you in 2010!

Russell Crowe: A Man of All Times

It would certainly seem that Russell Crowe is a modern man. But take a look at all the roles he has played. The time periods span from 167 A.D. to somewhere in the not-so-distant future! For instance, his new character, Robin Hood. Some people are complaining that his cropped hair cut is not very medieval. But well now--I don't think bushy locks are exactly the intimidating look they were going for, either. My point is, Russell Crowe is a man that fits perfectly into each and every periodic role that he is thrown into.
While some peeps are asking for a Robin Hood that is taller, and perhaps--more dashing--I'm not complaining. Personally, he's perfect for the part. He's pretty much got that 'squinting down the shaft of the arrow' look down pat!

I came across this 'philosophy' and thought that, even though it has NOTHING to do with RC, it is a nice thing to keep in mind.

TWO GLASSES OF WINE

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 glasses of wine...

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of

course, the sand filled up everything else He asked once more if the jar was full. The students re sponded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two glasses of wine from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things; your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full."

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else; the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "There is no room for

the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things

that are important to you."

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. Do one more run down the ski slope. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first; the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the wine represented.

The professor smiled. "Im glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend."

New feature for my blog--I want a website feel. I know this is asking a lot for a blog, but maybe at some point I will be able to get a site put up!
So I'm adding a new label 'Store'. Here you can buy DVD's of your favorite Russell Crowe movies. Also, there are some CD's of TOFOG and some Russell Crowe biographies that will be available shortly.
Maybe I will put up some of my friends' drawings too.
Anyway, the store will be for your use, hope you enjoy it!

Maximus Decimus Meridius from Gladiator

Everything he had--everything he was...wrenched from him with the drop of a rope, the lighting of a match. Everything, gone. Overcome by exhaustion, grief, and fever, Maximus was captured by a band of slave traders, taken to Egypt. The next phase of his life--he hated. Maximus hated everything. In reality, Maximus Decimus Meridius was a true character. He lived from AD 152 to AD 187, dying at forty. His heroism was hailed all over the Roman world. His strength was recognized by all, as was his dream. His dream that someone with honor would restore Rome to the glorious kingdom it once was, a kingdom of democracy. With the Roman mob cheering the dead hero on, Maximus Decimus Meridius' dying wish was recognized and fulfilled.

Russell Crowe on filiming Gladiator and working with younger counterpart Jauquine Phoenix: "You can do a scene with him, and he can bust you apart. And you're thinking, whoa, this kid is cool. But he'll go, I gotta do that again, it was terrible. And I'm like, whatever, let's do it again mate. Then he does it again, and it's even better! But The Gladiator is a big movie, a one hundred and three million dollar movie. There's lots of stuff going on. And taking a little bit of extra responsibility to make it a smoother journey for other people benefits me in the long term. And I don't change my life, I don't tell people to call me Maximus. I don't, you know, do any of that pretentious sort of stuff. You know, because I work between action and cut. However, you do adjust your life. And you adjust parts of your personality within that character."

His mind is composed of 183 criminal's brains. SID's the best of the best, and he knows it. He was designed to train police officers in virtual reality scenarios. He is a fifty terabyte, self evolving, neural network, double back flip off the high platform. All complicated parts, not a swan dive--carrying the joy of killing each and every victim from 183 criminals inside of him. When you give voice to a smart mouthed super computer, you can't expect to not have ego issues. SID takes pride in his knowledge, capability, and power. Don't get in his way. Don't do anything he wouldn't do. Don't do anythign he doesn't tell you to do; and you'll live. Probably.
Defining characteristics: Smart alek, ego, has a habit of wearing interestingly colored suits, and is very conscienscious about his appearance.

According to Leonard, the director, Crowe has nailed it as SID 6.7…. “SID is totally synthetic and, because he’s made up of so many different personality profiles, he’s totally out of touch with reality. And the way Russell plays him, he’s such a fun villain-the perfect bad guy you love to hate. Russell has also been quite successful in bringing a sense of humor to SID.”

Cort from The Quick and the Dead

Fast hands got him money. Fast hands got him a lightning quick draw. Quick thinking got him a job with greedy outlaw Herod Fee. Cort loved the riding, the shooting, the robbing. But he was forced to shoot a priest who had saved his and Herod's lives. Cort ended his outlaw career--vowing to hang up his gun forever. His mission was burned. The lives of the children he'd help save--shattered. All by Fee. How he hated Fee--he wished he could kill him and all his men for what they'd done to him. Hando has a hard time keeping control of himself. Desperate, he seeks to control others instead. He is the style of a Nazi, a follower of Adolf Hitler. He collects Nazi memorabilia, and quotes from Mein Kampf. A skinhead, he lives with others just like him, who look to him as their leader, although he is not that capable of being one. He easily conflicts with law, the Asian population, and other members of his gang. He lives in Australia, is mostly racist, especially against Asians since a group of them bought out a local pub, and forced him and his friends from their home.

Andy--an honest, trusting man who shares cooking and pictures with his best friend, Martin. Andy had never believed in lying until he met Celia--whom he eventually has a relationship with. They keep the relationship a secret from Martin, who was Celia's previous interest. Andy now believes that he should not be highly trusted, mostly because of insecurity from this escapade.

I have decided just what exactly I'm going to be blogging about. (And yes, it's still Russell!)

I am going to be compiling character profiles for most of Russell Crowe's main movie character. The reason for my doing this, is to eliminate small confusions that I experienced while reading wonderful fan fiction. I thought that if someone would have created bios for each character, explaining who they were from the beginning, I might not have gotten lost! So I set about doing so for others' benefit--and my own! It may be a slow process, but just check back whenever you want, and most likely, there will be something new. If there's anything you'd like added to my blog, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.
Also, if you find that I've made a mistake--don't hesitate to tell me.

And what is he doing with these on? If this is all filming for a hit movie is, count me in. We can all wear sunglasses on a medieval set, can't we?

Well, at least he lost weight for the part. We all love Russell--but personally, it's better when there's a little bit less of Russell to love! (I'm saying that kindly, dear Russell)
And while Robin's outfit here looks spiffy, I personally preferred more studded leather types of medieval clothing, as shown on Kevin Costner below. But I guess the chain mail on Russell's Robin is more realistic.
